Virtual Weather Station Version 13.00p15
Greetings!
I looked into the issues with WeatherFlash not updating, and although I could not find anything, I did not like the way this was implemented. Instead of launching a seperate thread, I decided to put the whole function on a separate async timer and it works great! The CPU usage droped and the memory useage dropped. I did the same thing with Rapid Fire and will look at this implementation on other functions if I get positive feedback from this build.
Also, I am in the middle of modifying panel sizes in support of the foreign language versions that are coming soon.
Here is the download link for the latest:
http://www.wunderground.com/autoasp/downloads/vws_install.exe
for those running WeatherFlash, lemme know if this fixes your problems.
Thanks!
Ed

I found the new method I used, Async Timer, works great until I moved it to a 95 and 98 machine and then it failed to update.
It appears 95 and 98 machines do not handle mult-tasking timers well. There is a write up on the Microsoft website about this.
Looks like I will have to roll back to the previous version and try to find the problem again.
Now you can see what I am dealing with! One fix may work on a given OS but not on a different OS. Yuk...
I investigated the WeatherFlash problem further, and I see that the correct data is being created (wflash and wflash2), however, I too experienced a problem where it stopped updating in the middle of the night. I reverted back to the old version and I still see the same problem! I am not sure if it is simply timing out - everything works fine but for some reason, the wflash2 file is not being updated to the server properly. I am adding some error statements to investigate it further, but it is taking a long time since the problem is so intermittent.
When will the NOAA METAR issue be fixed, apparently the changed the URL for the files.. Also installing issues, I couldn't get it to install, kept poping up the general display has been modified box and wouldn't let me get past it. I have a problem with 12.08 locking up randomly and am looking for a stable version..
